While drowsy driving is reckless in any vehicle, imagine driver falling asleep. So, since drowsy driving is legally considered to be reckless, driver can be convicted of vehicular homicide if they kill someone while driving under the influence of fatigue. Other truck accident types include ‘jackknifing,’ which happens when driver breaks too quickly and the trailer swings out from behind the tractor at 90-degree angle. Under this rule, drivers may split their 10-hour off-duty period as long as one off-duty period involves at least consecutive hours spent in the sleeper berth and the other is at least hours long, spent either in or out of the sleeper.
