For many years, parents could easily find themselves caught up in disputes over sole or joint custody, each seeking to assume major role in the child’s upbringing. Most prominently, responsibility for significant decision-making must be allocated between the parents, with one or both responsible for choices regarding the child’s education, medical care, religious training, and extracurricular activities.
