According to the CHP, 43-year-old Terence Patt was driving Peterbilt semi truck with box trailer westbound on Bear Mountain Boulevard, also known as Highway 223. He made left turn onto South Edison Road, just ahead of the motorcyclist traveling in the same direction. For unknown reasons, the motorcyclist began to pass traffic on the left lane, into the direct path of the semi truck and crashed at the intersection. Kern County Fire Department personnel responded and provided medical aid to the motorcyclist, but the rider succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
