A wrong-way crash on Interstate-90 near Missoula prompted Spokane attorney Matt Albrecht to write about the dangers of impaired driving for Albrecht Law, PLLC, after a 45-year-old Spokane man driving a Chevrolet Suburban entered the highway going eastbound in the westbound lanes and struck an SUV head-on. According to a KREM-TV report cited on the firm’s site, four people were killed in the collision and two young children were injured, with the Spokane driver, suspected of intoxicated driving, pronounced dead at the scene. The Montana Highway Patrol continued investigating the crash and had not released the identities of the other victims at the time the firm published its account.
Albrecht Law used the case to highlight data from the Washington State Traffic Safety Commission showing that impaired driving causes roughly 50 percent of all car accident fatalities in the state, killing an average of 275 people each year in crashes involving drivers at or above a 0.08 blood alcohol content or testing positive for impairing drugs. The firm also points to NHTSA findings that impaired driving is a leading cause of head-on collisions, often because intoxicated drivers cross into oncoming lanes or lose control of their vehicles.
Founded by attorney Matthew Albrecht, the firm represents auto accident victims across Washington state, pursuing compensation for medical bills, lost income, and pain and suffering, including punitive damages in appropriate DUI cases. Albrecht Law, PLLC can be reached at (509) 495-1246.
